The Power of Data in Self-Development

Writer's picture: Elise SinhaElise Sinha

Are you like me?  I work hard at my own development and am always looking for ways to quantify my results.  like a new certification, a test result, or an evaluation.... numbers matter.  Sure, I love feedback and accolades (I mean, who doesn’t), but sometimes there is nothing better than to see more concrete validation in the hard numbers.

I’m learning that my clients do as well.  When clients start with me, I have them assess their leadership skills.  Then, we create goals for what they want to get out of our time together.  It’s a great way to dig deep into their successes and opportunities, and this assessment helps them create goals based on the data.

Once they complete a package, we do the same assessment again to see what changes they have made.  Here’s the amazing thing.... Their numbers go up significantly, and it matches what growth I’ve seen in them!  It’s exciting to show my clients the results of their hard work and the new skills they have acquired.  Here are a few:

Wynne- when I started working with her, she was struggling with every part of her leadership role and her self-confidence was at an all-time low.  After working together and exploring what were the root causes, she increased in EVERY indicator! Several of them increased by 50%, including self-confidence, emotional intelligence, communication skills, and relationships.  Amazing.

Deb- Deb came to me at her “rock bottom,” and she felt like her hierarchy of needs was at risk. She was struggling personally and professionally.  After some intensive coaching and thought-work, Deb was able to achieve extraordinary results.  Her scores also increased in EVERY indicator and her self-confidence and change agility increased by 50%!  She no longer feels like she is “scratching” for wins and has decided to start her own company!  I am so proud of her.

Nora- Nora came to me with so much emotion. She was grieving the loss of a loved one, taking on a family business, and trying to take care of everyone.  She worked hard with me to make sense of all her emotions, make space for them, and strategies to move ahead with all her responsibilities.   She also improved in ALL her goals, with the greatest gains in self-care, decision-making, and delegating (up to 80%).  She is on her way!

I could go on and on, but I think you can see the power of the work we do by the numbers.  Showing my clients where they started and where they are today with numbers has really impacted their sense of success and confidence.
